The wide-spread idea that humans share a wealth of knowledge is taken for granted. Examining what we THINK we know, may pose some questions... which need to be answered, before taking our thinking too seriously.
Humans often pride themselves with their wealth of knowledge. Many hold themselves superior to our wild counter-parts and see our knowledge as rivaling God’s own. Looking at the WAY we know things, rather than WHAT we know can be rather sobering up.

For instance, look at the bamboo to the left. We can google the word “bamboo” and read all kinds of “facts”... leading us to feel content - to our own satisfaction - that we know a wealth of knowledge about bamboo.
The devil hides in details, they say. It is not WHAT we know about bamboo but HOW the humans that lived way before us came upon the very knowledge of the existence of bamboo.
We know of any particular object by "extricating" it - in our minds - from the multitude of indiscriminate connections it is embedded in. Our definition of any given “thing” rests upon defining the things around is as “not that thing”... in essence, by ignoring everything about these things. Therefore, "knowledge" of an existing “thing” is actually knowledge of "not that thing"... or lack of knowledge of how it is connected with everything around. Human “knowledge,” which some see as "rivaling God's," is the ignorance of everything around the "things" we know.
For instance, our approaches to world problems, such as treating physical or mental health which are founded upon the ignorance of the separation of mind, body, and spirit, handicapped in producing desired outcomes. This poses a system problem to human knowing that is reflected in all the maladaptive syndromes in all the human dimensions of life.
How Does This Affect Our Lives
Human "knowledge," is made of cultural beliefs - passed on imaginations - that people take on during their early upbringing. These imaginations are defined by that which their cultures agreed to ignore. This "knowledge" is stored as concepts and used to make sense of reality; this in turn forms our sense of "self."
To be able to talk and socialize with other humans you have to ignore the same parts of reality they ignore to have similar understandings. Thus, you are socialized to ignore the same parts of reality everyone else ignores – which in a majority of cultures is MOST of the reality.
Beliefs are thoughts that have a certain "consciousness frequency" and tune you into that "frequency." Once that is done, your consciousness “radio” will receive only transmissions in that frequency and that will confirm the “reality” your frequency offers. Such as, google-ing “bamboo” will give us all kinds of information about "bamboo"… strengthening our satisfaction with the "things we know” and closing us off to most of the reality of existence: its nonduality.
Out our world’s "battle fields," the many “soldiers” of politics, race, gender, of human theories of science and health therapies are rolled out of the same playdough. They truly feel that they fight because the others “uniforms” - such as nationality, skin color or genders, are wrong. The playdough their minds is rolled out of is bad. The “soldiers” are symptoms of bad playdough.
Spirituality, Religions, and Atheism
Skeptics do not believe anybody can make magic. They are completely right - no one can make it. Magic is the playdough the Universe is made of and no more playdough can be made. It is our task to discover the beliefs or imaginations we accepted from others that limit Magic from coming on everywhere in our lives. Such is a life fully lived.
In mysticism and esotericism the opposites meet. Mystic wisdom is the maker of peace because it reflects the unity of opposite dyads, the nondual Nature of the Creator and Creation.
Out, past victims and oppressors, past ideas of possible and impossible, past our understandings of social and political problems, past liberal and conservative, past our understandings of illnesses and treatments, past the raging political, race, gender and religious battles, there is an field. Our upcoming workshops and spiritual retreats will take you there!
